The concept

Villsaft began with a simple idea: to turn familiar Nordic ingredients into a contemporary drink brand. The flavours combine wild berries, herbs, flowers, and plants associated with the Norwegian landscape. The goal was to create something natural and distinctly Nordic without relying on the usual rustic or overly traditional visual language. The result is a quiet, modern identity with a softer and more expressive side.

Visual identity

The lowercase wordmark is simple, light, and approachable. Its minimal form creates a calm framework for the more expressive botanical imagery and allows the packaging to remain the main focus. The visual direction connects the product with its source: open landscapes, wild plants, natural textures, and quiet outdoor moments. Rather than presenting nature as untouched or dramatic, the photography makes it feel close, familiar, and part of everyday life.

Flavour system

The collection is built around five fruit-and-herb pairings, each with its own botanical composition and accent colour. The illustrations make every flavour immediately recognisable while keeping the full range visually consistent. Instead of highly detailed botanical drawings, the ingredients are shown through soft, slightly blurred forms. This gives the packaging a more sensory and atmospheric character, somewhere between pressed plants, watercolour, and an out-of-focus photograph.

Packaging

The packaging uses a restrained white base, generous negative space, and a single botanical composition for each flavour. The simple structure keeps the range clean and contemporary, while the soft imagery prevents it from feeling clinical. Warm metallic details and subtle colour accents introduce contrast without competing with the illustrations. The system was designed to work both as individual packaging and as a recognisable family on the shelf.

Beyond the can

The identity was extended across lifestyle photography, outdoor advertising, merchandise, and gift packaging. These applications show how Villsaft could grow from a packaging concept into a complete consumer brand. The gift box brings the full flavour collection together and uses natural moss as a tactile reference to the landscapes that inspired the project.

AI-assisted visualisation

AI tools were used to explore the art direction and visualise the finished identity across realistic lifestyle and campaign settings. The process focused on maintaining consistent packaging, believable materials, and a natural photographic atmosphere across different scenes. Selected images were then manually refined in Photoshop. I adjusted the compositions, corrected proportions and perspective, removed visual artefacts, and improved the consistency of the packaging, labels, lighting, and colours. The final visuals were carefully art-directed to support the brand story rather than replace the design process behind the identity and packaging.
